Set up an X4.4 lift from scratch
A start-to-finish field procedure for understanding every button, configuring the installed equipment, proving safe travel, connecting Atlantis Boater, and handing off an unloaded lift.
Required first check
Confirm X4.4 before touching the panel
In Atlantis Boater, open Controller Info. Hardware Version must read exactly X4.4 for this guide.

Continue. Record the software version before beginning. The timeout procedure later in this guide requires 2.17.32 or later.
X4.3
Stop here and use the X4.3 instructions in the commissioning guide. X4.3 does not use this service panel.
Qualified installers only
Make the lift safe before setup
Service controls can cause unexpected movement and powered checks can expose hazardous voltage. A boat owner may use this page to understand the panel, but only qualified, authorized personnel should change service settings.
- Remove the boat, unload the lift, clear the complete travel area, and use a spotter with an unobstructed view.
- Keep the site disconnect and the normal STOP control immediately accessible during every powered check.
- Lock out power and verify absence of voltage before opening an enclosure, touching wiring, or changing electrical hardware.
- Record the actual supply, installed stopping hardware, physical key, position sensor, and expected movement direction before changing software choices.
Panel & signals
Learn the buttons before using them
SET opens the menu. An outer button selects an action. C confirms only after the light matches the expected color and pulse count. Never use color alone—match the written label, count, and sound.

- Open or close service mode
With the lift stopped, hold for two seconds to enter. Tap once to leave. A rising chirp opens service mode; a falling chirp closes it.

- Confirm the selected action
Press once only after the light color and pulse count match the action you intend to save or capture.
- LIMIT
- Choose the stopping system
Repeated presses show position-sensor endpoints, physical switches, or Limits Off. The first press begins on the saved choice.
- 0
- Set the position-sensor reference
Select before positioning. It arms Hardware Zero so the unloaded lift can be moved to its verified physical top before C.
- UP / DOWN
- Capture protected endpoints
Press and release one button to arm that endpoint. Move with a normal held control; service UP and DOWN never move the lift.
- KEY
- Enable or verify the physical key
Yellow ×1 is detection on, Yellow ×2 is detection off, and Yellow ×3 starts the read-only two-position check.
- 120/240
- Save the verified incoming supply
Amber ×1 is 120 VAC and Amber ×2 is 240 VAC. This software choice never identifies, converts, or rewires line voltage.
- UP + DOWN
- Measure full-travel movement time
Hold both for two seconds to select the timeout procedure. This step requires firmware 2.17.32 or later.
- APP
- Open app setup or reset local app ownership
This separate Boater-logo button never uses C and is not part of service mode. Its feedback appears on the wireless light.
Complete commissioning sequence
Configure in this order
Work top to bottom. A red light with a low tone is a stop result, not an invitation to repeat the action.
Record
Confirm the installed equipment
Write down Hardware Version X4.4, the software version, incoming supply, position sensor or physical switches, physical key, and labeled motor direction. The service panel saves choices; it cannot discover wiring or convert voltage.
If the hardware and the evidence disagree, stop before entering service mode.
SET
Enter service mode
Stop the unloaded lift and release every normal movement control. Hold SET for two seconds, then release it.
120/240, then C
Save the verified supply first
Press 120/240. The first press shows the saved choice. Press again only when you need to cycle to the qualified, verified incoming supply: Amber ×1 for 120 VAC or Amber ×2 for 240 VAC. Press C once.
Solid green with a short three-note success sound confirms the save. Red with a low tone means stop. Because changing the supply mode restarts KEY detection, always complete the KEY step after this one.
Saving the software choice is not electrical acceptance. Keep a 240 VAC installation out of service until its controlled physical 240 VAC acceptance is complete.
KEY ×1 and ×3
Enable and verify the physical key
- Enable: press KEY until Yellow ×1, then press C. Green with the short three-note sound confirms detection on.
- Start the read-only check: press KEY until Yellow ×3, then press C.
- Hold the first key position steady at Yellow ×1. At Fast yellow, move the key to the opposite position. Keep holding through Yellow ×2.
- Solid green with the full success melody is PASS. Solid red with a low tone is FAIL or canceled—stop after that first result and contact Support.
LIMIT, then C
Choose the stopping system
Magenta ×1 · Position sensor
Use only when the Atlantis position sensor is installed and online. Press C, then complete Hardware Zero and both endpoints in Step 6.
Magenta ×2 · Physical switches
Use only when upper and lower physical limit switches are installed. Press C, then test both switches and safe retreat in Step 6.
Set protected travel
Complete the correct stopping branch
Position-sensor branch
- 1. Hardware Zero: press 0 for White ×1. Move the unloaded lift to the verified physical top—the intended upper reference. Release all movement, wait at least one second for a steady reading, then press C.
- 2. Upper endpoint: press and release service UP for Blue ×1. Use a normal held control to position the lift at its safe upper stop. Release, wait for steady position, then press C.
- 3. Lower endpoint: press and release service DOWN for Blue ×2. Position at the safe lower stop, release, wait for steady position, then press C.
Hardware Zero invalidates earlier endpoints and presets and turns automatic travel off. Recapture and test both endpoints, then recreate every desired preset in Atlantis Boater before using automatic movement.
Physical-switch branch
- 1. Skip 0, UP, and DOWN capture. Those service actions belong to the position-sensor branch.
- 2. Approach the upper switch slowly. Confirm it stops the protected direction before unsafe travel, then confirm the lift can retreat normally.
- 3. Repeat at the lower switch. Stop if either switch is missing, reversed, bypassed, or inconsistent.
Hardware Zero and endpoint captures pass only with solid green and the full success melody. Red with a low tone means stop after the first result.
Firmware-gated procedure
Measure the movement timeout last
- 1Start fully DOWNBoth protected endpoints or physical switches must already be proven. Position the unloaded lift at its lower stop.
- 2Select the testInside service mode, hold service UP + DOWN together for two seconds. Release both buttons when Fast teal confirms the selection.
- 3ConfirmPress C once and stay at the controls through three long warning tones.
- 4Run measured travelUse the normal UP control to start the measured full travel. Service UP and DOWN do not move the lift.
- 5Verify completionThe written controller/app completion and full success melody confirm the new measured timeout. An early stop or error is not a pass.
Abort: use the normal STOP control or press any service-panel button. APP is not a timeout abort and is not an emergency stop. After any aborted or interrupted run, treat the measurement as incomplete and repeat final validation before handoff.
Test & hand off
Do not load the lift until every check passes
Tap SET to leave service mode. Confirm the falling exit chirp and normal status, then complete this unloaded acceptance check.
- Controller Info still reports Hardware Version X4.4 and the expected software version.
- The saved 120/240 choice matches qualified evidence for the actual incoming supply.
- The saved stopping system matches the hardware physically installed on the lift.
- Every normal held UP and DOWN control moves in the labeled direction and stops immediately when released.
- The upper and lower protection stop motion before unsafe travel, and the lift can retreat safely from each stop.
- The physical key passes both positions and produces the expected allowed/blocked behavior.
- STOP ends automatic travel, and no service button or APP action leaves movement latched.
- Position-sensor endpoints and every saved preset have been approached and tested from a safe distance.
- After a controlled power cycle, the lift remains stopped and the saved setup returns without a warning.
- Service mode is closed, normal status has returned, and no red, uncertain, or out-of-bounds result remains.
Pass
Record the serial number, versions, supply, stopping system, endpoint or switch results, key result, timeout result, APP owner, and installer name for handoff.
Fail
Keep the boat off, leave automatic movement disabled, record the first failed cue, and contact Atlantis Support. Do not repeat a red result without direction.

Send Atlantis Support the controller serial number, Hardware and Software Version, selected button and visible signal, app message, installed equipment, and a photo or short video of the first result. Board-level engineering and diagnostic information remains available only to authorized users in Atlantis Central.
